Juvenile Takahē

Description

A juvenile takahē stands at the edge of a pond watching and learning while it's father bathes. These incredible birds are endemic to New Zealand and critically endangered, so finding one in the wild is unlikely. This image was taken at the Orokonui Eco-Sanctuary which is predator free.
